What is Project Truth?

Keep the basis of the work understandable

Important work rarely suffers from a shortage of words. It gets harder when the words outlive the reason they were written.

Project Truth is Longcurrent’s name for a project’s current, reviewable basis: the evidence in use, human decisions, boundaries, actions taken, receipts left behind, and the state from which responsible work can resume. It is not perfect truth. It includes what remains uncertain.

A Project is more than a container

A folder holds files. A chat holds conversation. A task list holds instructions. A Project needs the relationships among them: which source supports the direction, who made the decision, what was kept out, what action occurred, what shows it occurred, and what the next person needs before continuing.

Source/Evidence

A source is material the work is allowed to rely on. Evidence is the part that supports a bounded conclusion, decision, or next action. A document can be available without being current, and a source can be authoritative for one question while being useless for another.

Decision

A decision is a human judgment that changes what the project should do next. It is not a suggestion, generated draft, unresolved question, or assumption. A useful decision names what was decided, by whom, on what basis, and what could require reconsideration.

Boundary

A boundary says what must wait, stay out, receive review, or remain unresolved. It can concern authority, evidence, privacy, timing, cost, scope, or risk. It is part of the current state, not an embarrassing footnote.

Action, Receipt, and Resume State

An action is proposed or completed. Drafting a message is not sending it, and preparing a change is not publishing it. A receipt records what was saved, changed, approved, rejected, or completed, without proving more than it records.

The Resume State names the next grounded step. Sometimes that is continue. Sometimes it is review, wait, hold, or retire until a source or authority is confirmed.

The reader loop

Orient → Decide → Act → Record → Resume. Orient from current source, evidence, and boundaries. Decide with named human authority. Act only with support and scope. Record an honest receipt. Resume from the state actually present. A Boundary can affect every stage.

What it is not

It is not omniscience, automatic approval, a promise of tool connections, or a surveillance log. Provider neutrality is a design direction; any specific connection or behavior requires separate current evidence.
